Recently, I’ve noticed an uptick in activity related to hacking and unauthorized attempted access of databases and accounts. I’m taking every measure I can to protect client websites, primarily using Wordfence for WordPress clients and RS Firewall for Joomla! clients.
I receive weekly briefings on every client account and if I see anything suspicious or receive an alert of any kind, you’ll be notified as soon as I know. If at any time you want to upgrade to a pro account for your site, you can check out details at http://www.wordfence.com and https://www.rsjoomla.com/joomla-extens…/joomla-security.html.
There are other firewall security extensions, however, these two are my go-to favorites for features provided in the free version in addition to their function. They’re regularly updated too. If you ever want to try out a different one, we can go shopping!
During the next week, I will be running manual full backups for each client of your website home directory and databases. This is in addition to your incremental scheduled backups.
Everyone is safe and fully updated as of tonight. This is just an informational check-in that we’re living in a world where folks like to attack other websites online for no other reason but to randomly cause chaos. Sometimes things happen, but I’m doing my very best to be sure to prevent anything malicious if possible and to backup in the event something does happen.
Have a good night and if you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
